Ryan Popple (Greentech)
Ryan Popple joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as a partner in 2010. He is a member of the greentech team and focuses on investments for the Green Growth Fund. Ryan’s primary focus has been on sustainable transportation technology as a result of his experience working with advanced vehicle and alternative fuel technologies.
Before joining KPCB, Ryan was the senior director of finance at Tesla Motors, where he was responsible for corporate financial planning and business development. Ryan managed the cost-reduction program on the Tesla Roadster, working with engineering, supply chain and manufacturing teams to increase performance, quality and contribution on Tesla’s first vehicle. Ryan also led the development of consumer financing and leasing for Tesla electric vehicles. Earlier in his career, Ryan worked in energy finance with Chevron and ExxonMobil. He has also provided support to several early-stage cleantech ventures in business plan and financial model development.
Ryan received a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from the College of William & Mary, and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
