Life Sciences
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers are proud to have had a Life Sciences investing strategy since the inception of our firm in 1972.
We were the first venture capital firm to form a dedicated Life Sciences Group practice. We have partnered with scientists and entrepreneurs to build over 100 companies and their breakthrough products in medical devices, drugs, vaccines, personalized medicine, diagnostics and healthcare IT and services. We have worked shoulder to shoulder with the teams in our companies to pioneer recombinant DNA, monoclonal antibodies, molecular diagnostics, implantable therapeutic devices, combinatorial chemistry, non-viral vaccines, laser treatments and protein drug discovery. Our family of companies includes Genentech, Hybritech, GenProbe, Align, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, eHealthinsurance, WebMD, Genomic Health, Idec Pharmaceuticals and many others using innovation (or innovative technologies) to help solve important unmet medical needs.
KPCB has built a powerful and large network of scientists, executives, policy experts and business development activities so that we can help young companies translate their dreams from "bench to bedside" faster and more effectively. We have founded and co-led several important conferences such as the annual "Laguna Biotech CEO Meeting at Laguna Niguel," now in its 19th year. We are actively looking for new and exciting opportunities.
